Getting a password reset? —Allan Bedford
Is there any way to get your Lugnet password reset if you have forgotten/lost the original password that was issued with your membership kit? I looked on the password change page, but it doesn't mention what to do if you don't know the current (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) I'll have to ask the system to assign you a new one and call you on the telephone with it or mail it to you. Send phone number or snail mail address. --Todd (24 years ago, 21-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Getting a password reset? —Geoffrey Hyde
Sounds like maybe you should automate it, and have a script-driven requester that takes the address of the user and then automatically sends the password to the registered address of the person. The same way a lot of websites handle forgotten (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Getting a password reset? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) There are, I think, two gotchas with this plan 1. There isn't really a concept of a "registered" email address, per se, that is associated with a user. A user can have multiple addresses. For instance, I have 3 listed on my member page: (URL) (...) (24 years ago, 21-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Well, I think that you find turning your house upside down "more convenient" rather telling. Todd and I have had disagreements about this in the past. Leave it at that.            Re: Getting a password reset? —Todd Lehman
(...) It'd probably go something like this -- 1. You request a new password at some web page. 2. Server sends a short confirmation e-mail to your known e-mail address. 3. You receive the e-mail and click the hyperlink to bring up a webpage to (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Getting a password reset? —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Seems like the standard approach. Here's a wrinkle to think about. You allow multiple passwords. So are you going to generate a new one and leave the old one in force? What if I have 4 already? On the other hand, if you get rid of the old one, (...) (24 years ago, 23-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) typically, i've seen it where: 1) you request a new password (giving a little bit of personal info, name, etc) 2) it's sent to your last known email address. this way, if someone tries to tamper, the new password is sent to your email (...)
