    time/date stamp —James Brown
I am both horribly unobservant and lazy. This first is indicated by the fact that I didn't notice that the time stamps are generated (apparantly) by the local time of the post. The later may be determined by the fact that I haven't dug into the back (...) (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

        Re: time/date stamp —James Brown
(...) haven't (...) Never mind, ignore all that.(1) I think my brains are in neutral. To keep from feeling a complete idiot, I will ask why the time stamps on messages 1460-1463 in lugnet.general are jumbled up, and I'll just pretend thats what I (...)         Re: time/date stamp —Matthew Miller
(...) Well, the historical reason is that original time of post is reasonably meaningful, whereas time a post arrived at any given server is fairly arbitrary. Anyway, this'll all (kinda) be solved when Todd implements user accounts. That, or you can (...) (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Reading the planning document for Lugnet, it sounds like at some time there will be some fee-based services, such as (...) (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Yes this is what I meant. I assume you'll also keep track of what lugnet newsgroup messages someone has read via the web interface. I wasn't implying you'd give out shell accounts. (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: time/date stamp —Wouter van Wageningen
(...) So if I reincarnate, I'll have to re-apply? I guess that my future membership won't make it into my will either. ____ |oooo| Cheers, |oooo| Wouter van Wageningen ¯¯¯¯ (26 years ago, 18-Dec-98, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

        Re: time/date stamp —Mike Stanley
(...) YES! slrn rules. I've toyed with the idea of giving out user accounts on my Linux box here. Security is a major concern of mine, though, in addition to not knowing how use of this box on our network for goof-off purposes would be perceived, (...)
