I don't want to get into the whole "if you and Suz say you really
want someone to do something that doesn't necessarily mean they have
to do it or become persona non grata around LUGNET" issue because,
to some extent, I don't think it's worth arguing, although I do
believe that it could happen.
What I will say is that a) I never look at someone's e-mail address,
and I bet most other people don't as well - we look at WHO is
posting, b) even if you choose to post from another e-mail account I
don't believe that it magically transforms you into another person.
You are Todd Lehman. You OWN LUGNET. You can't stop owning it, and
to a very great extent, you can't post something like a suggestion
and not expect it to be taken as coming from Todd LUGNET Lehman.
You can't, and it's stilly to think you can, and it's even more
silly to think that simply posting from one e-mail account or
another would convey that disclaimer at all, imo.
I've seen you stress before "this is from me the fan not me the
sysadmin" and it still doesn't fully wash with me, not fully. I can
accept it, but normally that's because you go a little overboard in
trying to make it clear that (at least in your mind) you have split
yourself in half and hold two opinions.
But to even begin to think that because you or Suz post from one
e-mail account or another that your words will be perceived
differently is, to me, one of the funniest things I've heard in a
while.
The reality, imo, is Suz DID hit Huw like a ton of bricks. Not in a
mean way, not in an especially domineering way, but it was VERY
clear what she wanted to happen. It's also very clear that she is
very important to you, as well she should be, probably the most
important person around in your opinion. You seemed to mostly share
the same opinion (no need to repeat your split
opinions/personalities - I mostly caught on last night) and that
suggested (to me as a reader and obviously to more than one or two
other people) that what we were hearing last night were akin to
words from on high.
And seing either of you post from @bobsgreasyfish.com wouldn't have
made the slightest bit of difference (to me anyway) in how the words
were perceived.
Don't get me wrong, though - I don't want to suggest that you and
Suz shouldn't have strong opinions, and if I were in Huw's shoes I
would have simply offered to remove my post but told you to go jump
in a lake as far as the scans go, so this isn't a big deal to ME.
But I'm still chuckling from the "I'm a different person if I post
from this e-mail account" image. :)

For the record, I disagree. Not so much that I think it makes the
Lego community look GOOD, but merely that I think the scans as I saw
them are about as controversial as a bowl of cold soup.

But you'd carry the same weight if you posted from
@bobsgreasyfish.com ;) As long as you SAID it that way and made it
clear.

| I would have to say that I whole-heartedly agree with Mike on this issue. Power to the AFOL people! Long live Huw! And email me for the scans, I'll happily distribute them to everyone. Mark L P.S. Todd you are doing a great job that is largely (...) (25 years ago, 7-Dec-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
