Aha, good, yes, probably, hmm...

Of course, this isn't a good idea for something like the .dat group being
discussed for the cad folks.

I haven't looked into this, but can you customize the error message returned
when a posting fails? That seems important if non-standard behavior like
this is implemented.

An alternative to rejecting posts which don't have the Followup-To group in
the Newsgroups line is to add it automatically. This is more transparent,
which is generally good, but has the side-effect of putting posts somewhere
other than what the author specified, which could be confusing. (Although,
since they did choose the followup group, that might not be much of a
problem .)

The rejection messages for HTML postings versus (for example) (...) (26 years ago, 12-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)
