  "Open in NNTP newsreader"

(...) All right, let's try this then... Hate to make it hard for people to get into a real newsreader. OK, so for better or for worse, (and let's hope we don't confuzz the heck out of net-newbies), in addition to there being a link in the left (...)   Re: "Open in NNTP newsreader"

(...) No, no! I like it! I momentarily switched my monitor resolution from 800x600 to 640x480 to see if it was cluttered but it wasn't at all. Thanks for adding the traffic link too (a la Chinese checkers :), and also thanks very much for listening (...) (25 years ago, 29-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: "Open in NNTP newsreader"

(...) Ya, I like that. The traffic cube is pretty cool looking although it doesn't evoke anything in particular. What's it supposed to look like? Now, another nit, can I have a back navigator? Right now, when I am here: (URL) can easily click on (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Local/native langauge forms of country names

(...) Nothing in particular...just a grid of dots, some of which are active and some of which are inactive. (...) really "part of the system" -- it's just setup information, mostly. Hmm, is there still something there that's not available elsewhere? (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Todd Lehman wrote (after heavy snippage): (...) It's the page that lets you easily get to the traffic page. To me it collects all the stuff together neatly. I remember that when last I used it, all the pictures on the right actually took me places. (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Local/native langauge forms of country names

(...) OK, you can get to the traffic page now pretty much from anywhere. (...) I'll hafta take some new screenshots before making the pictures clickable again. (...) Its purpose (always has been) simply as the introduction-point to the news-server (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jun-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Local/native langauge forms of country names

(...) I should back up a couple steps and explain the objectives of the /loc/ page. There are two at this stage: 1) For repeat visitors who know where they're going, it's a stepping stone from the root homepage to the individual town or country (...)   Re: Local/native langauge forms of country names

Todd: Just like Larry, would I find it very useful to have the country names in my native language[1] on the /loc/ page. It is kind of messy to mix several languages on the same page. Even if it is just place names. How do you choose how to sort? (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Local/native langauge forms of country names

(...) For right now, it's sorting ASCIIbetically, which is bad, and messes up Austria, for one. (...) I would *looove* to do that. But where, oh, where will I find a n^2 list of country names in multiple languages? Maybe just starting with a few (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
