Re: Ease up on marking folders Avatar

(...) Hi Rene, A lot of concerned parties will be at BrickFest right now. I'm sure you'll take your time before deciding on any action but I just thought I'd mention it. Tim (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

*BREAKPOINT* - ideally for the entire thread, though neither I'm able to technically lock it, nor I'd force it. But things are getting out of control, once again. The issue "Eric" (sorry for making you a neuter, Eric ;-) seemes to be a pretty (...) (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.general, lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Um, how exactly is (URL) directly feedback on what you asked? You asked "P.S.S Could not post to: lugnet.announce.brickshelf", to which Jeff replied "The lugnet.announce.brickshelf group is postable to only by Kevin (and perhaps a few other (...) Miss the part where I said for the love of the brick let's discuss not argue? Then read this, I'll help you like I helped Rob. We should all help one another. Yep. "Take a moment to consider this. I pose a question and cite some examples looking for (...) (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.general)

(...) -Snip- (...) What I would like you to know is that Jeff and I have a history, things you don't know about. If I am sick of Jeff chiming in with *his* Chip, I'll tell him. Actions and attitudes you are not aware of. YOU, should be man enough to (...) (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.general)

Nice Rob, nice. What does any of that have to do with Avatars and Brickshelf? (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.debate)

Re: Ease up on marking folders Avatar

(...) Eric, When being a prick, do it in admin.general so someone can finally rectify your endless trolling, baiting, and general detritus. Or better yet, just don't post this crap at all. My original post on this topic was to point out the rudeness (...) (18 years ago, 25-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) <normal purportless rant happily snipped> (...) <snip> (...) Didn't seem like trolling or any other rude or unnecessary comment to me. (...) Now I ask you, how much longer must we all put up with this scattered, smothered, covered, chopped, (...) (18 years ago, 24-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Posting-times?

(...) Thank you, Suz and Jerry, for the replies. I suspected that it might have to do with the new server, but I couldn't remember when I started noticing it. Thanks again. Dave! (18 years ago, 23-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Posting-times?

(...) Hi Dave, well, basically this was one of the first things I noticed with the switchover to the new servers. We have since tried in several ways to identify exactly what is causing this delay. Interestingly, new posts appear on the news server (...) (18 years ago, 21-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Posting-times?

(...) Yes, people have noticed this and the sys admin is aware of the problem. It can be unnerving.. I sometimes worry that I'll receive a "time out" message. (But I never do.) I'm afraid this delay might cause people to worry, and thus click "send" (...) (18 years ago, 21-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Posting-times?

I don't post as often as I used to, but for at least the last several weeks I've noticed that the time between clicking the "POST" button and seeing the "Your message was successfully posted" screen has greatly increased. Sometimes it takes close to (...) (18 years ago, 21-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) The Spotlight feature has been in place for what, five years or more now? And "petty aguments" and the like *consistantly* get in the front page spotlight. I think this is proof enough the current system doesn't work. You're saying "all people (...) (18 years ago, 17-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX) !

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) I think I agree with some of this - my point, Tim, was that spotlighting shouldn't end up being used to vote on an issue because it just forces more dross into the spotlighted list. If someone thinks something is worth highlighting, but a lot (...) (18 years ago, 17-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) Not quite, and it's not my system - it's the system we have now, and it's a system that will work if we choose to use it. If the community doesn't want this sort of stuff highlighting, then they need to highlight the things that they want to (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) No, you misunderstand. You spotlight stuff you want to see spotlighted. Spotlight a post of a MOC that you like, or an event you're interested in. You don't have to spotlight a "counter view". If you don't want my post appearing in the (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) If people now highlight your post they are saying they agree with you rather than Richie. Thus his system would work. With a negative spotlight you allow people to treat things negatively without giving a valid alternative which is needlesly (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: Worst of the worst

(...) No, I think you're wrong and users need a way to counter spotlighting in cases like this. Your post is another example of why a post needs an option to downgrade it. Some people who agree with you have gone and highlighted it. Now it looks (...) (18 years ago, 16-Aug-06, to lugnet.admin.general, FTX)

  Re: Worst of the worst

As a new member with high expectations from this most "friendliest" of locales, I would like to let you all know that viewed from "the outside"(i.e. folks with little or no Lugnet experience) this type of garbage does not speak well of (...)
