Fans of Bionicle, space, castle, Star Wars, and to a degree train and • pirates
have now left LUGNET for more theme-concentrated sites. Nothing LUGNET • does can
change this fact, but LUGNET has the opportunity to help combine the • resources
of these sites into one cohesive Lego community clearinghouse for • information.

I don't believe trains has another forum.  ILTCO has some mailing lists but
posts there are few and far between.  To the best of my knowledge most train
disucssion takes place here on LUGNET, am I missing something?  To date
ILTCO chosen not to provide Discussion Forums because we feel it will
fragment the community further while providing little (if any) additional
benefit.

Why have other groups broken away?  Do their forums offer something LUGNET
can't or won't?

(...) Actually, I've thought both of these are major contributing factors to LUGNET's continuing decline as a community hub. Members don't vote as often as they should partly because some don't use the web interface and I know of no other way to (...) (19 years ago, 2-May-05, to lugnet.admin.general)
