Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Todd Lehman
(...) Yes, I think everything -would- be easier if the charters were taken a little loosely. But -- I don't think that's necessarily practical (or safe) long-term -- even though it may make life easier. It's one thing if clones are talked about (...)         Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Frank Filz
Todd, I have to say this is a very well worded description of your view of what Lugnet is. I'm going to toss in a few comments from someone who is becoming a Lego purist, but has purchased clone brand products... I am glad you created the (...)      (...) ^^^^ (...) ^^^...^^^ (...) Thanks; I hope it shed light on any missing things not previously covered. BTW, in a single concise sentence, LUGNET is: a communications tool with a distinct purpose: "To enrich the online experience for the LEGO (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Richest person in the world? That girl who sang the line "I'd like to buy the world a Coke®, and keep it company" [1] [1] I assumed she wanted to buy *each* of us a Coke®, not that we'd all have to share one Coke®;-) -John (...) (25 years ago, 7-Apr-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Jeremy H. Sproat
(...) I can see that scene from Top Gun, where the captain is chewing out his grunts: "You don't own that bottle of Coke®, the taxpayers do!" Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 7-Apr-99, to lugnet.off-topic.fun)

Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —John Neal
Speaking of Coke® [1] bottles and pilots, ya gotta mention the one from "The Gods Must Be Crazy"-- hilarous movie, although I don't remember the sequel being very good [2]. -John [1] God, I love typing the word "Coke®" using the "®" character!!!      <meekly> That's it...Typing the word Coke® using the "®". Maybe I overestimated the degree to which simple things amuse you:-( [1] [1] My simple mind, however, finds the simple [2] things *greatly* amusing:-) [2] more fun for simple minds....say the (...)         Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Larry Pieniazek
(...) Just putting my oar in here, and it's probably tangential.. but I don't see these brands as quite the same examples. While some could argue that Pepsi(r) is a knockoff, I don't think Pepsi historians would agree. And the other two pairings (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Todd Lehman
(...) OK, you're right -- they're not great (maybe not even good) examples -- but I needed something to get the point across that I was trying to make. I'm sure Coke *wants* everyone to believe that Pepsi is a clone of it, whether or not it's true. (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Lugnet clone handling? (was: Re: LEGO clone auction) —Frank Filz
(...) I have seen several examples. One is there is a brand of camping accessories which has packaging looking awfully close to Coleman. I think the brand is something like Cochran. I think there are other examples in the toy industry. Of course (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.general)

Frank Filz wrote in message <36FFC8B2.6201@minds...ng.com>... (...) Actually, the brand is Coghlan's...    (...) I'd say look to the canonical trademark dilution examples. In each of the following, the first is the trademarked name brand, the others are imitators. And in each case, the trademark was either almost lost because people tried to use the (...) (26 years ago, 29-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.general)
