  Re: Double posting.

(...) Yes, forgot about this. (...) Not eradication, no. Maybe deemphasis. Now that I think about it, I think the better way to go may be to launch a new window for the posting operation, leaving the old one right where it is at. The user goes (...)   Re: Double posting.

(...) Additional thought, can you close the window when the posting is complete without errors (none of the newsreaders I use put up anything for successefull posts - in fact, in general I hate having to click on a "your action completed (...) (26 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Double posting.

(...) Ah, that would be good. Normally I don't like browsers automatically poping up new windows (if I want one I'll center click at work, or right click and chose "open in new window" at home), but in this case, the new window for the reply (or new (...)   Re: Double posting.

(...) No, nothing to do with server load... It has to do with the stack paradigm of web browsers in general...hitting the Back button _really_ brings you back to where you were (assuming the browser isn't buggy), as opposed to a facsimilie of where (...) (...) I wish edit boxes were draggable interactively like window corners! (Seriously! :) Hmm, I wonder if there's some JavaScript or DHTML thingie by which this could be handled interactively on the client side? --Todd (26 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: posting preview (was: Re: Double the Fun)

(...) I neglegted to answer Todd's question about the behavior. Yes, the page resets (99% of the time - I've recently been noticing that _sometimes_ when I return to the new LEGO listings on eBay after a search that my search is still in the form). (...)   Re: posting preview (was: Re: Double the Fun)

(...) Aah, sounding good. Another little thing, can we have a larger edit window (or is there any way to make it re-sizeable, it seems silly to me to have to be only looking at about 20 lines of text when about 60 fit on my screen).   Double posting.

(...) that (...) True. that's the only way to SOLVE it. But double posting is due to human error. This human errs because there are more steps than necessary. I claim I'd make less mistakes if the path from post initiation to return to my original (...) (26 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: posting preview (was: Re: Double the Fun)

(...) It can't be IE 5, or it's a configuration option (and I didn't find it just now), I'm running IE 5 as I type this and I can go back and forth no problem. There IS behaviour on some server generated pages where IE will prompt you to repost the (...) (26 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

posting preview (was: Re: Double the Fun)

(...) How about an automatic edit box below the preview, with a pair of buttons on the left (preview and post) and a cancel button on the right (just like the FTX page editing thingie but with different button labels)? That way you could just (...) (26 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.off-topic.fun, lugnet.admin.general)

  preview

Todd, Thanks for adding the preview function. Can we also have a post button for when we don't want to preview? The deal is, when I'm including a link I want to preview so I can test the links. When I'm not including a link I don't want to preview (...) (26 years ago, 31-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Later May-June 2000 issues of Mania Magazine DID Include a disclaimer

Re: Later May-June 2000 issues of Mania Magazine DID Include a disclaimer

(...) Actually, no, what Rich is talking about is _new_ news. (At least to the best of my knowledge.) What was discussed before was that the July-August issue did contain a disclaimer to make up for the mistake in the May-June issue, but what's new (...) My take was, it was nice that they put the disclaimer in, but it would have been a lot nicer if they (...) (26 years ago, 29-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Web interface to LUGNET news moving from www.lugnet.com to news.lugnet.com

(...) The member pages will stay on www, not move to news, right? If so, when we include articles in our FTX pages will anything change? I assume that you'll make them work just like they do now (leave out the "(URL) but I wanted to make sure. Ben (...) (26 years ago, 28-Jul-00, to lugnet.admin.general)
