  Re: 1969 Instruction Problem

(...) There's really know "automatic" way that the DB can know which 1969 set is given at Kevin's site when it's listed the way it is. But it is smart enough to find the matching one when the year is given. For example, (URL) links to (2 URLs) links (...) (26 years ago, 26-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: Throw Bots Parts Names

(...) It's probably too soon for people to understand these parts. I submitted a list of possible names to lugnet.general a few weeks ago. It was met with deafening silence. But here it is again. Since no one has proposed anything else, whatever you (...) (26 years ago, 25-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Semi-ADMIN: Pause Train Reference Improvement Work in Good Shape

(...) Not starting the argument, but if I ever say "could care less..." (which I try not to do, I'm on the "couldn't" side) you should tack on an implied "but not MUCH less!", please. (...) Two points, first, I bet I can motorize 2585 without making (...) (26 years ago, 25-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.trains)

Re: Semi-ADMIN: Pause Train Reference Improvement Work in Good Shape

(...) YOU'VE written "could care less..." and you're calling yourself pedantic? (kidding) :-) [Please don't start this flame again, I respect both sides of this argument, and just happen to believe that the "couldn't" crowd is the pedantic half] (...)   Re: Semi-ADMIN: Pause Train Reference Improvement Work in Good Shape

Pedant alert... One could make the argument that 2585 is mis-categorized. It's a self propelled vehicle, not a car. Cars are characterised by not having motive power. Given the current choices (cars, locomotives, buildings, Train Set (and why the (...) (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database, lugnet.trains)

  Re: 1969 Instruction Problem

(...) This seems to be a flaw with several of the "2 numbered the same" sets... I think Toods automation is a bit off yet. (26 years ago, 24-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

  1969 Instruction Problem

There are 2 sets numbered 1969. One is Space Police 2 the other is General, however the General one has a link to building instructions which link to the Space Police 2 one - is this correct? (26 years ago, 22-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Throw Bots Parts Names

Has anyone come up with names for the new Throw Bots parts? I'll be inventorying these sets soon, and it would be good to use part names people will understand. Frank (26 years ago, 22-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

Looking for tools to help with inventorying sets

I am looking for tools to help with inventorying sets. The ultimate would of course be a custom ap which lets one search a parts database somehow. I have checked out the various parts references, and all of them except Jim Hughes' Technica involve (...) (26 years ago, 21-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

I've got lots of sets to inventory and possibly review

Having just gone wild after exiting my dark ages, I have 50 sets, and am willing to do inventories and reviews. My priority for inventories would be the sets which are not previously inventoried, and starting with the smaller sets. With that said, (...) (26 years ago, 19-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: 12V train early 70th

(...) 12v Trains is two words. All three (9, 4.5, 12) are. The fact that a match on theme=Trains works at all is because the indices have not gotten cleaned up yet; most all items were first "themed" at Trains, with the secondary characteristic set (...)   Re: Semi-ADMIN: Pause Train Reference Improvement Work in Good Shape

Re: Semi-ADMIN: Pause Train Reference Improvement Work in Good Shape

Looking at the 'themes browse' page (URL), I notice both 4.5V Trains and 4.5v Trains. Was this intentional? The two links under 4.5V Trains don't match the years shown on the browse page. Likewise the first link under 4.5v Trains. Actually, for all (...) (26 years ago, 18-Mar-99, to lugnet.admin.database)

  Re: 12V train early 70th

Joshua, your reorg is great. but can you break up 12V trains into two words so that a search using theme=trains finds them all instead of just 9V and 4.5V? (26 years ago, 18-Mar-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.admin.database)

Re: Set Inventories - Multi-piece Parts

Since inventories are typically written with one line per item, in a fixed column format, the approach you describe also achieves the coveted "doesn't fit in the given space" award. ;) I suppose it is helpful to remember that no single (...)   Re: Set Inventories - Multi-piece Parts

I count minifigs as 1-piece things, and use this format to describe them: "Minifig with Red Legs, Black Hips, Red Arms, Black Hands and Diver Suit Patterned Red Torso, with Glasses and Headset Patterned Male Head" But I've seen that this is not so (...)   Re: Set Inventories - Multi-piece Parts

[Rambling, unorganized discourse alert:] I originally started doing inventories because I pretty much throw all my parts into common parts bins and I thought one day I would like to reconstitute a particular set.   Set Inventories - Multi-piece Parts

[I'm posting to lugnet.admin.database, because I didn't want to clutter lugnet.db.inv with discussion posts] How do most people handle parts with multiple pieces when inventorying sets?
