It's not the only thing that matters, no, but posts to .announce.* and in particular, posts to announce.moc get an upweighting, and posts to .admin.* and .off-topic.* get a downweighting. Sometimes it would be nice to have a news group to set followups to which would not actually accept posts, and would bounce an error back to the poster letting them know. As of 14 Sep 2000 we intended to remove all mentions of member packets in the activation emails that go out. However, at that time, I missed a (...)
