What about listing the default "Newsgroups" and
"Followup-To" groups with check boxes.
Replying to a message posted to "lugnet.build" and
"lugnet.boats" without a "Followup-to" header, the interface
would look something like this:
Subject: Building a paddle-wheel river boat________
Newsgroups: | Post to | Followup to | Newsgroup
| [X] | [X] | lugnet.build
| [X] | [X] | lugnet.boats
Additional newsgroups.: _______________________
Additional followup-to: _______________________
message follows here...
If Todd wants to promote reduced cross posting, then he
could make the default choice be unchecked for some or all
of the checkboxes.
This way the experienced (or just observant) user will be
able to prepare and send the message in one go, whereas
those who forget to choose where the message should be
posted will have to be reminded to fill out the checkboxes.
Play well,
Jacob
