Change frequency on R/C Racer (5600)

I found the R/C racer on sale so I bought three. One for each of my sons and one for myself. I am hoping that the radios can be modified so that we can use them together. I opened the transmitter and I noticed there is a 27.145mhz crystal in there. (...) (25 years ago, 15-Nov-99, to lugnet.modelteam)

I am certainly not the best person to answer this question, but I did get the impression that the folks at the Media Lab were somewhat overwhelmed by the effort that went into organizing this amazing event.   Re: brickos 090 problem no program download with CONF_LNP_FAST

Hello Bernhard, (...) I just checked the source code. There is no speed setting for usb tower in the code. If you look into firmdl3 you also find that fast mode is disabled for USB, because it doesn't work. I think the USB tower sends at 2400 baud (...)   Re: Use PC's IR port instead of IR tower?

The basic difference between PCs/PalmPilots/WinCE IR ports and the RCX is a different physical transmission/modulation protocol. In the PC etc case the commonly used format is described by the IrDa standard (www.irda.org) where seperate IR pulses (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Built-in IR

The problem with programming the built-in IR in the Palm is that one needs to access and control the hardware directly. You can't use the normal programming interfaces for controlling the IR. This requires an in-depth knowledge of IR protocol and (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics.palm)

  Play tones with legOS !

Because dsound_play currently doesn't work for me, and because i wanted to make some noise under legOS with little memory and CPU footprint, i wrote a little function that plays arbitrary tones without using interrupts. Robert, you don't need to set the frequency. Just set the baud rate to a high frequency. Like 76K. Then try the things we talked about via email. MIke Robert Eddings <webmake@bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:38484B10.636C8C...uth.net... (...) (25 years ago, 4-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics.palm)

  RE: IR tower question

I stripped my IR tower few days ago and draw a partial schematics out of it. TX side. There are two IR diodes connected series. Low power level feed is 100 ohm and high level is 5.6 ohms. Low range diode current is somewhere around 50 mA. I have not (...) (25 years ago, 18-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: Laser Module for Mindstorms is Here!

I don't know what the frequency response for a cat eye looks like but most of these laser pointers will fry a human eye if directed into it without us realizing it. The main problem is that the frequency of the pointer is on the fringe of what we (...) (25 years ago, 30-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: IR tower question

Robert, I hope an electronics person tells me I'm wrong, because this is where I'm stuck too. The serial port sets 2400 baud. But my understanding is that we have to get the Palm to generate a 38kHz signal. That is, pulse the IR led on/off at 38kHz. (...) (25 years ago, 18-Nov-99, to lugnet.robotics)

IrDA turns 'on' the IR for every 0 bit and holds it upfor ~ 1/2 of the period of the transmission frequency.(more on (URL) For these reasons its better to set the IrDA transmission frequency to 2x38kHz=76kHz and send 0x55 or other similar (...) (25 years ago, 1-Dec-99, to lugnet.robotics)
