Re: Question of rareness... 4559, 4548

(...) Used speed regs come up at auction every month or so and usually go for somewhere around 20-25. The 4559 is OK for parts, but if you have track, I feel the 3225 is better for parts now. I am still chasing a raincheck I hold for 6 4559's with (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.trains)

Re: lugnet.* discussion groups by mail

(...) I have received 3 lugnet.trains mail echo posts since you turned it on for me. Since the instructions were rather vague, I presume it's currently a human (you :-) ) processing the requests... Seems to be working fine. Can you turn off "trains" (...) (26 years ago, 26-Oct-98, to lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Anyone intersted in some older sets?

(...) Most people in the US nowadays(1) have 7 digit salaries if you count the cents. Are you saying you make less than 10K a year? Yeesh. That's WAY below poverty. 1 - Todd doesn't, unless he's incorporated his enterprises and started paying (...) (26 years ago, 27-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Why do I beat my head against the wall?

Every time I participate in an eBay auction and get sniped, I vow not to do it ever again. But sooner or later, some really choice lot comes along, and I backslide, only to get sniped again. (URL) had a 280 bid for days... with 405 as my ceiling. 41 (...) (26 years ago, 28-Oct-98, to lugnet.market.auction)

What is complete (was Re: New vs. old (was Re: More 1999 Figs... ?)

(...) I think most completists agree that a total reissue (if under a different number) does not take the place of the original set. So if they reissed an M:tron set, you'd need both versions to be M:tron complete. (1) Analogy is with the (...) (26 years ago, 28-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

(...) Different strokes for different folks (1). That rig will never get you even 10 points in a concours. And a 90 point concours T would never be seen at the drag strip, much less have its E.T.s painted in the window. Myself, I can admire both the (...) (26 years ago, 28-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)
