I've put together a NQC API file that allows you to use some of the RCX2 features. I don't no whether anyone else has already done this but here is mine. This is unofficial so is unsupported.   "Non-Robolab" LabView functions
 
I've been experimenting with some of the LabView icons available in "Investigator" mode in Robolab (under the "hourglass" item on the outermost menu). They seem to cause some odd behavior sometimes. I've found that Formula 409 does a good job at taking off paint as well, and it's not as destructive as Brasso (honestly, I've never used Brasso on Lego parts, so I don't know how destructive it really is--just going by other posts here).
