  blown L293's

Bill, I think the moral of the story is: DO NOt use 3v motors with the Handy Board. They draw too much current. Use motors rated at least 6v, even that can be a problem. I should put this in the manual somewhere... See (URL) to buy more L293's. (...) (28 years ago, 6-Feb-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Ooops.

It's unlikely you killed the MCU, there are 1k resistors in series with the RxD and TxD lines. Go to the assembly manual, and run through the series of tests that verify proper operation of the Interface/Charger Board. (URL) your message you said: (...)   Re: Bootstrap download mode

see if you can get it to go into download mode when you don't have the phone cable plugged in. if this works, then you have some kind of probl with your serial connection. make sure you have a normal modem cable, and a telephone style RJ11 cable (...) the label on the diagram says "cut motor trace here" with an arrow that points to a dark band. if you look at your HB, it won't have a dark band. that's where you need to cut. slice through the green-coated trace where that dark band on the picture (...)   Re: Problem with accessing analog and digital ports on HB with IC2.81

you have to use the HB libraries; you're probably using the 6.270 Board libraries. get the new libs from (URL) . run 'ic -config' to change the default library to lib_hb.lis. fred In your message you said: (...) (25 years ago, 12-Jul-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Awesome!!! I posted a little while ago regarding innovative designs, and this one definately qualifies. I *love* the use of the boat parts for this MOC.   Re: Pic16c84 programming with Handyboard

David -- The MAX662 chip I used on the last beta rev was not the magic bullet I hoped. Not only is there possibly the rise time problem you mention, but when the thing turns off, it outputs 5v.   Re: Sony IR decoding routine!

ic is very sensitive to linefeed termination in icb files. if you are runnnin on an ms-dos system, i believe it requires unix style (e.g., ctrl-j) termination, rather than ms-dos ctrl-m ctrl-j style. try removing the ctrl-m's from your copy of the (...) (...) The input voltage range is 0 to 5 v, and the output number range is 0 to 255.
