  Strange.....

Today I was at The Computer Museum, Boston, presenting The Handy Board, and non-commercial controlers called Crickets. The HB was working fine, but one time I turned it on. It diplayed: "IC v3.1 Bet" an the heart stopped beating. It seems as if it (...) (28 years ago, 14-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Assembling the HandyBoard

(...) The whole issue of null (inverted) connections vs. straight-through is incredibly confusing, because you must take into account the gender of the connector (male pins or female pin sockets) in determining whether it is a null connection. (...) You need that resistor to stabilize the crystal frequency. Try Radio Shack if it is missing from the kit. It doesn't have to be 1/8 watt, 1/4 or 1/2 watt is fine, just make sure it is 2.2 megaohm. (...) So far so good. (...) There is probably (...) (...) Re-load pcode_hb.s19. If the board loses its operating program, when it starts up it runs gibberish, and the value of the motor output latch is randomized. -Fred (28 years ago, 19-Dec-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Not a real systematic one -- that seemed to be enough to let motors blast away, but stop real damage from happening if the nicad pack got shorted out. remember, shorting nicads is a real hazard - 50 to 100 amps -- could almost start a car. -fred (...) Hi Dave, can you try the DLM.EXE (not hbdl) program off the software resources web page? you will have to use the "-256" flag because it defaults to -512 for the e1 version of the 6811 which is probably not what you have. also, if you have windows (...)
