OK everyone. I put Tom's stuff online, see the HB HP (handy board home page :-). -Fred P.S. Tom, check your color table the next time you make a GIF.   To HB or not to HB, that is the question.

I've been looking into the HandyBoard, and it looks great. I'm wondering if I could get some opinions here. A friend of mine and I are going to build a robot, and we are trying to decide if we should go with the HB, or make something else. I know (...) (...) I used IR phototransistors. I picked them up at a local electronics surplus. They may have been mediocre in sensitivity as they could only respond to flame a couple of feet away. Hi Keith. Send it to me and I'll post it for all. Please send as a GIF not JPG as this is better for line art & text (i.e., a schematic). Fred Cass, Seems like I remember reading in NUTS and VOLTS, or somewhere, about Randy Sargent and his partners involved in a competiton, using a Radio Shack AM transmitter on their robot. The current still goes through the chip. 1 amp max. But now it will get more hot cuz you disipate more power accross the integrated transistors with the higher voltage.
