I too was there during the contest though I was not one of the
participants. I would like to add that the fire-fighting contest was
the very first robot event I have been to. Now I plan to go to some
of the other ones this year.
Now I know why quite a number of robots got "stuck" when they
hit the wall. I surely forgot about the penalty imposed on robots that
hit the wall. Like Fred, I think this penalty should be removed. I also
agree with all of Fred's suggestions. But, changing the wall rule is the
most significant one for me.
The contest was indeed fun to watch. Maybe next year I will
join the fun! So beware! :-)
