after you download the S19 code, does your C program in the HB go away? i.e., whether or not you hold down start, your HB boots up with the IC message on the LCD? DLM, DL, and the others just wouldn't work for any of my hardware, but a colleague wrote a shareware application ( LOADHC11.EXE ) expressly to load bootstrap 256 byte loader program into page zero of internal RAM , including (...) a regulated supply would be really nasty when you put the interface board in ZAP mode -- the supply would try to raise the level of the battery to 15v or whatever, and that would be bad. so unless you really know what you are doing, steer clear of (...) Good question. Answer: DO NOT USE REGULATED ADAPTERS WITH THE HANDY BOARD. I will add this to the FAQ, because it is not obvious, but the HB power circuitry was designed explicitly for CHEAPO UNREGULATED WALL WARTS ONLY. sorry, Fred In your message (...) what value are you using for the R4 resistor? There was an incorrect value in some of the Handy Board documentation and it might not be fully expunged. (...) Yes, the freeware MS-DOS/Windows tools have been known to have problems on some new/fast PCs. It all has to do with old serial drivers. Newton Labs stands behind the commercial product. I am going to guess this is a software problem on the PC side. If you can boot your computer in DOS mode, try running IC then. Or find an older box :-(. I don't remember exactly, but the memory map for IC is something like: pcode itself: 8K used user compiled code + global program data: 16K available user process stacks and runtime locals: 8K available ---...--- 32K total memory this is ball park. you can use dip switches in the standard digital in ports if you either (a) solder them to male header first, or (b) insert them in a wire-wrap socket and then insert the wire-wrap socket pins into the HB sensor ports. both of these methods get (...) Hi all, it turns out that the answer for doing this has been available for two years (!) Kent Farnsworth put together a set of GNU compiler tools, Randy's modified AS11 assembler, and a DOS version of the "as11_ic" Unix shell script, all working for (...)
