Fred et.al.:

Success!  DLM, DL, and the others just wouldn't work for any of my
hardware, but a colleague wrote a shareware application ( LOADHC11.EXE )
expressly to load bootstrap  256 byte loader program into page zero of
internal RAM , including the CONFIG reg.    I used it to set CONFIG to
0c, and then used hbdl to download pcode : No problems!

I don't know why your tried and true stuff wouldn't work for me, but at
least I found a solution.  May I mail this ZIP file up to you?

Now... on to IC!

two things you can try:

1.  use DLM to download the CONFIG0C.S19 file.  Make sure to use the
-eeprom flag.  This will cause it to burn the config register to the
proper value.

2.  Have you tried Randy Sargent's DL.EXE for DOS / Win 3.1 full
screen DOS mode.  This is part of the freeware interactive C zip
archive.

let us know,

In your message you said:

I've noticed the only limited success I've had downloading pcode_hb.s19 is

-  with older slower systems that have _no_ modem cards installed using dlm
-  with win95 or win311 systems using hbdl with no modem cards as well.

The hbdl downloads them monitor, then the actual code, but complains that
config=0F every time  (and fails)..

If I set the config register in hbdl's dialog box to 0F, then it succeeds
in downloading without complaint, but ( of course ) won't run.

I am anxious to impliment these wonderful boards in a course I am
developing for January, but am "thwarted".  Can someone perform a
"thwart-removal"?

last week someone reported solving this by letting the battery charge.
let us know if that works.

am assuming that nothing changed in your config (cpu, cables, etc).

In your message you said:
My board has been running well for a few months. Last week it would not
sychronize with IC 3.1. Also, no initial LCD display and heartbeat.
After several attempts I was able to download pcode, but received a
message suggesting the config register needed to be reinitialized. Sinc • e
then, the initial LCD display is normal, with a heartbeat, but I can't
sync with the board. Repeated attempts to download p-code and initializ • e
the config register have failed using IC 3.1, hbdl and dl.
Any thoughts?  Thank you.
