| Why the difference? Probably due to the fact that if it gets stuck in someone's throat there's a good chance they'll still be able to breathe (like pen-lids) - It also makes them easier to remove (Getting the non-hole heads of my classic spacemen is (...) | I'm sure that other people have noticed that the santa on the cover of the S@H winter catalogue has green hands.
