A Three Year Old Lego Purist

My wife called me a work yesterday to tell me that our 3-year old son, Max, wanted to throw away one of his bricks. He was building a tower - carefully selecting each brick. My wife noticed that he got up, went into the kitchen and put something in (...) (21 years ago, 18-Apr-03, to lugnet.general) !!

  Re: Long Term Packaging

(...) Frank, I noticed the same thing in regards to the yellowing of blue bricks in a long ago sealed late 1960's set. For me it was blue sloped bricks. At least with Cellulose Acetate there are other known causes of damage to bricks. Both heat and (...) (18 years ago, 18-Jul-06, to lugnet.general)

Re: Old Parts in Legend Sets?

Hey Lar, don't forget the four 3x3 low slope corner bricks in yellow. Another great rarity. I'm not into Lego trains, but had I ever decided to buy one the 7740 would have been it. A great set! Gary Istok (...) (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.trains)

  Re: LEGO Quality

Interesting..... Only yesterday I opened a 25 years old 396 and had the same thing: bricks were incredibly stiff. There were no blue 2x4's, but lots of other blue, and no sign of yellowing. Since it's such an old set, there were no polybags.... Duq (...) (24 years ago, 4-Mar-01, to lugnet.general)

(...) LOL! All kidding aside... I actually prefer the non-yellowness of the new greys, and I only wish they'd come out sooner (before I stockpiled wings and wedgeplates). However, I do think it's important to keep the old grey handy for matching (...) (21 years ago, 19-Nov-03, to lugnet.general, FTX)

(...) The pieces are windows, doors and tiles from Block City, made by Tri-Star/Block City Inc in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, USA. I don't see any bricks in your photo. They made mostly white 1x2 bricks with square studs. See: (URL) guide is cool. -Erik (19 years ago, 3-Feb-06, to lugnet.off-topic.clone-brands)

Wonderful old Minitalia Lego Windows from 1970's

I just purchased some old Minitalia Lego windows from an Italian Bricklink seller. Note: it appears that Italy put some construction toy import restrictions in place in the early 1970's, and when TLG could no longer export Lego to Italy, so they (...)   Art Deco (Moderne) buildings using log bricks.

I've been playing with some of those log bricks lately (mostly tan or white), and when you stack them up, they give a nice "Art Deco" appearance that a lot of old buildings in the 1920's and 1930's have - sort of a "Terra Cotta" sculptured look that (...)   review: Chinese "Bricks" military sets
