Re: Is LEGO killing off the very concept of a Theme?

(...) I'd agree with this interpretation. I'd suggest that fans try to respect TLC's will to survive, even while feeling nostalgic. From a marketing point of view, I'd also say that "modeling" in general is kinda dead. By modeling I mean like the (...) (24 years ago, 7-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

  UK Legofest report

I think those present will agree that the recent Legofest - the first in the UK as far as I know - was a great success. I had arranged it on a Monday to fit in with Kevin Wilson's travel plans, so attendance was expected to be limited. (...) (25 years ago, 3-Jul-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  Thinning out my LEGO collection

I’ve decided to thin out my LEGO collection and wanted to see if anyone wanted a chunk of it before I list the inventory on BrickLink. I am not selling everything I have but plan to part with a lot of duplicates that I’ve been sitting on for years. (...) (14 years ago, 8-Sep-10, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Re: "MOC" Blacksmith Shop on lego.com

(...) Yes. You are absolutely correct. These are the things I've said. The two things are not mutually exclusive. I am not such a 'brick purest' that I don't recognize the value of specialty pieces. However, as mentioned, I don't buy a set because (...) (23 years ago, 18-Dec-01, to lugnet.off-topic.debate, lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.lego.direct)

Lasting Toys Inc - December theme schedule - and a special treat!

Happy Holidays! There is a lot of stock available and it should be available right through until Christmas.   A rant on many poor business practices leading to unemployment

Re: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle compared with 6080 King's Castle

IMHO 6080 is the better of the two sets. Here are my reasons. 6080 is built on a larger baseplate. The two plates in the back of the 6085 are 16x16 while those of 6080 are 16x24 I believe. The castles cover the same area but 6080 has more plate in (...) (23 years ago, 21-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Most LEGO parts of the 1950's are relatively obscure for modern LEGO collectors.
