LEGOWORLD 2001

Probably you have heard earlier about the large LEGO event that will be held
from october 20 until october 23 in Zwolle, The Netherlands: LEGOWORLD 2001.
During the past few months a lot of work has been done by the organizing
committee.

What will be shown at LEGOWORLD 2001?
LEGO itself will be present at LEGOWORLD 2001 and they will show many things
(including LEGO Studio's, LEGO Mindstorms, Starwars and also the first show of
the Harry Potter Tour). Also the television channel FoxKids will be present.
They will bring many artists with them and will make some programs right from
the event. Last but certainly not least the Dutch LEGO club 'De Bouwsteen' (The
Buildingbrick) will have many activities as you can see in the list below.

Modelrailroad
Under supervision of Manfred Moolhuysen there will be a huge LEGO train layout,
probably the biggest of the Netherlands. He will not this complely by himself,
he will get help of other members of the Dutch LEGO club as well as people from
Italy, Germany and Belgium. The bigger the better, so we are still trying to
get more participants.

Building contests
At any LEGO event there should of course also be a LEGO building contest. We
have many bricks arranged for this purpose and many prices to give away. The
jury, which will consist of visitors of the event, will select the
price-winners each day.

LEGO market
Of course, there will be a possibility to buy LEGO. Usually there are mainly
older sets as well as rare sets.  Some new in box, others second-hand. Also
loose parts can often be found.

Own creations.
The best creations are of course own creations. Members of the Dutch LEGO club
and a few others will show what amazing models hey can build from LEGO.

Historical sets.
A review of LEGO sets from very old till just recent sets will of course be
present. Therefore, it would be nice if people would like to show sets from
their collections. From wooden LEGO to Bionicles, from Duplo to Technic, from
pirates to space.

Super mosaic
Paul Koelewijn and Ruud Woeltjes have already earlier made a large mosaic (for
pictures see www.debouwsteen.in.nl). This time it will even be bigger and we'll
try to break the world record. From each entrance ticket one guilder goes to
the new Ronald McDonald House in Zwolle, and to support this great initiative
also the super mosaic will be devoted to the new Ronald McDonald House

Cranes
The biggest LEGO crane in the world will be shown at LEGOWORLD 2001. The Smit
brothers en their friends will try to make the crane even bigger and to lift
more weight

Presentations
LEGO itself will show LEGO Studio's and LEGO Mindstorms. But also we ourselves
will have a computer presentation. Jaco van der Molen will show what all can be
done with LDraw and POV-Ray. Making building instructions for your own model or
making a model where you're short on bricks? With LDraw you can create all.

Roborama
Martijn Boogaarts will also be present at LEGOWORLD 2001 to show what LEGO
robots can do. Take a look and be amazed.

Diner 'Fans of LEGO'
LEGOWORLD 2001 is of course the place to meet fellow LEGO fans. For an easy
conversation we are planning to organize a special diner for LEGO fans after
the opening hours of LEGOWORLD 2001.
If you would like to attend this diner, you can contact us.

Location and entrance
LEGOWORLD 2001 will be held in the IJsselhallen in Zwolle, The Netherlands from
Saturday October 20 until Tuesday October 23. Zwolle is located a bit north of
the center of the Netherlands and very easily accessible by car and train.
To plan the route to Zwolle, you can use the Routeplanner on the website:
http://www.alh.nl
In Zwolle the directions to the IJsselhallen are given.
To go by train you can plan your route at: http://nsr.ns.nl/reisplan2.asp
The IJsselhallen are about ten minutes walking from the railway station (To the
left when you go out of the railway station), but you can of course also take
the bus.
Entrance. Tickets for the event costs 23.50 guilders (10.70 Euro) at the door.
A pass for multiple days costs 30 guilders (13.65 Euro)

Information in Dutch is also available on: http://www.legoworld.nl
