I have a mac Powerbook (non-USB) running system 8.1 and using a Palm 3 serial port adapter for the IR tower. I have no fax or hotsync software loaded, nor any peripherals attached. I'm running the Lego Mindstorms software (RIS 1.0) under Virtual PC (...) (24 years ago, 29-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

All, I'd like to announce that I have FINALLY had a free day this weekend and managed to add DCC capability into pbForth! Thanks to Mark Riley for showing me his early DCC driver in assembler and to Dave Koudys for lending me a DCC equipped motor (...) I just received the latest driver from the tech support, which turned out to be the same driver as the one on the web site. I uninstalled the old driver including a manual registry clean, and reinstalled the new driver configuring it for COM1 (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-00, to lugnet.robotics)

Looks like you didn't get any answers? The towers make no difference to the RCX brick at all. The originals with serial port work with some things better than the newer USB version. I have both to play with. A serial port on your pc would be a (...) (15 years ago, 25-Sep-09, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) Check out Dave Baum's NQC (Not Quite C). This is your best bet, IMHO. NQC doesn't get around the significant limitations of the RCX firmware, but it should easily be able to handle the application that you describe. (URL) you are running a (...) Yes. Great stuff Dave and Mark ! We built a tracked robot and find the "remote control" utilizing the joystick (version 2.0 of RCXCC) to be just as cool as programming it to run autonomously. I am amazed at how well the IR tower communicates at all (...) (26 years ago, 4-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Sorry for this very fundamental question: The CD in my daughters Mindstorm RIS 1.5-set has been damaged. So we haven't got the firmware for the RCX nor the programming-software for the PC.
