RE: Drive R/C Servos with the RCX and pbForth (long)

(...) I hear you, John. Learning a new language can be a bit tricky, and I won't go into the details of why I think it's a good idea to learn different languages to get the benefit of different ways of thinking about problems...oops, don't get me (...) As stated before, that's not the issue--it's the degree of profit. If Chris puts up (...) (18 years ago, 9-Jan-07, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

RE: How much memory finally? ADDENDUM

(...) There is no user memory from 0x4000 to 0x8000 - It's all ROM space but it might not be used. I look at things in terms of replacement firmware, and the RCX is very flexible in this regard. The RAM for replacement firmware starts at 0x8000. (...) (25 years ago, 10-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

RE: Mindstorms USB connection and memory

There is a lot of "not quite standard" to existing USB capable products. Some things like digital cameras and thumb-drives get along fine with current operating systems, but most of them have their own drivers available to implement extra features. (...)   Re: Should I upgrade to RIS 2.0?

So the 1.5 Mindstorm PC based programming software (does it have a real name, to minimize confusion?) that uses the drag and drop based GUI should work fine with the 2.0 firmware. It just won't provide access to those features. Second dumb newbie (...) (21 years ago, 22-May-03, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

USB on winXP/2k problem: cannot download

err, I mean: "I know NQC"... NQC for RCX2 firmware that is. I opened my first RIS set on sunday night, built the rover and played with some simple touch sensor stuff. (...) This is what I was wondering about. You have defined the core problem that needs solving (I was going to ask you to do that). So it seems we can have one PC to RCX link or multiple RCX's but not both, darn! (...) My initial idea/solution would (...) (21 years ago, 23-May-03, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Still haven't opened my RIS 1.5 (hey, I'm planning a move so I'm kinda busy right now...why else would I be posting at midnight?) big question...should I stick with the 1.5 firmware and RIS software (to start and for my 8 year old kid) or should I (...)
