Hi Bernd, When you need it really fast, you sholud use legOS instead of NQC. A program written with NQC uses the LEGO firmware, which is a ByteCode Interpreter. This pogram is interpreted Byte after Byte from firmaware. The firmware executes the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Mar-01, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

Performance wise, all are similar....and capable of handling the RIS 2.0 firmware, and using the USB technology (through the USB tower)..... but 1.0 saves on batteries...yes...through its AC connector. this is really (...) We repeated the experiment and now the NXT runs the DFT much faster than the RCX with more features: power-spectrum (needs floating (...) (15 years ago, 20-Aug-09, to lugnet.robotics)

  RL 2.5 and 2.0 incompatibility

A cautionary note for situations where RL 2.5 and 2.0 co-exist as in schools which are in transition to upgrading their software. Be aware that if an RCX has RL 2.5 firmware, programs downloaded from RL 2.0 will only go to slot #3. So additional (...) (23 years ago, 3-Apr-02, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.robolab)

Re: Robolab, byte codes and assembler

(...) The way I understand it, it's really not the sensor's fault. The RCX and firmware together either can't or doesn't deal with the ambiguous voltage levels sometimes returned during two of the four transitions. If the RCX were fast enough that (...)   LegOS does not work on 1.5 RCX

Hi I installed the win version of legOS and downloaded the firmware legOS.srec to both my RCX's. The older RCX from a 1.0 set seems to accept .lx files OK the first time after the firmware is downloaded. The new version will not accept any .lx (...) This is what I noticed, comparing the two systems with BrickOS One thing that I noticed was at the lower voltages the needle on my multimeter wavered around a little and it tended to steady at the higher power levels All of the readings were taken (...)
