Thanks - HB back to life!

Thanks to all who helped me restore my HB back to life. After shorting the battery pack on the board during the last assembly step, it turned out to be only the A1 processor blown. Also, a BIG THANKS to Prabal Dutta at Digital Micro System. I (...) (29 years ago, 20-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

6V question - is this OK?

Is this OK for getting 6V to motors connected to the L293s? I tapped off the center of the battery back and get about 6V. I then soldered a wire at that point on the battery pack and then soldered the other end to pin 8 (Vs) of each of the L293s (I (...) (29 years ago, 20-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  sony-ir question

Hi HB'ers I have been using the sony-ir.asm program written by Brian Silverman to send commands to my mobile HB. However, I noticed that if I use printf commands the ir routine returns un-reliable results. My program uses the subsumption approach (...) (29 years ago, 5-Jan-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: HB died - HELP

Keith, You may have shorted something out while connecting up the battery. I've seen this before, and parts do fry if you connect them to 9.6v. If while you had the battery ground lead connected, you just brushed the +v lead onto some pins, that (...) (29 years ago, 4-Feb-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  DC10 turning

Hi Jeff (...) I had the same problem. I got some improvement by running the treads in opposite directions. Turns real quick then! And the drive tread does not have to carry the whole force of the turn plus "slip" or pivot the stationary tread. Keith (...) (28 years ago, 7-Aug-96, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

I think I fried my board!!

I need help figuring out what I did to my handyboard. I had it all assembled, tested, and working when one of the battery leads touched one of the solder spots on the board. A small puff of smoke rose from the board but I was able to disconnect the (...) (28 years ago, 7-Jan-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
