First Year for Minifigs is 1978

Allan Bedford just asked me what the first year for minifigs was. According to Lugnet/Peeron/Bricklink they say 1977. But that may not be correct... Some of the sets that show the 1977 minifigs are USA sets #588 (Police Station), #575 (Coast Guard (...) (19 years ago, 15-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

But I try to make sure that Lugnet is THE place where historical and reference information about LEGO that is found NOWHERE ELSE (outside of Billund) can be shared with all (...) (...) Suzanne, after reading your website comments, I can see the strain that this has had on your personal life. Now for the tough question.... is Todd willing to give up the code to Lugnet? If so, then there may be hope for the future of Lugnet. I (...) (19 years ago, 18-Jul-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) It is interesting to note the irony here.... Brickfest, TLG and The National Trust are celebrating the 50 years of THE TOWN PLAN (Lego System of Play). And the building contest is for building in the Miniland, Minifig, and Micro Scales. But (...) (19 years ago, 19-Jul-05, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.lego, lugnet.general, FTX)

Re: Why not smaller & more affordable for all? was Re: LEGO Factory sets

(...) I agree with you Jeff, These parts are VERY small, paying 5 cents per part for parts that are only a fraction of the size of 2x4 bricks seems rather pricey. And then grouping the designs together.... As a town person, I am disappointed that (...) (19 years ago, 21-Jul-05, to lugnet.build.microscale, lugnet.dear-lego, FTX)

  Completing the Lugnet Database....

For what it is worth, I do hope that Lugnet maintains some sort of existence into the future, including the Lugnet database. In finishing up the final tidbits for my Lego CD I have been working on now for nearly 3 years, I am just about to the point (...) (19 years ago, 27-Jul-05, to lugnet.admin.general)

  LEGO Errors

I was looking at a few old Lego catalogs, and I came across some errors that were made 25-30 years ago. Here's 2 examples.... Error #1) the 1977 German catalog.... (URL) is a nice 16 page catalog... but there is something missing.... 19 sets that (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general)

Re: Any 1970's Canadian Lego Catalogs?

(...) Yes Oliver, it sounds very interesting!!!! The first one V-1869 is likely the 1963-64 Canadian Samsonite catalog. The LE-21-66 is the 1966 Canadian Samsonite Spare Parts list. "THE LEGO STORY" - 3551-CA is likely the 1968-69 Canadian Samsonite (...) (19 years ago, 29-Jul-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

(...) Thanks Allan, I know I have been promising the Lego CD for a while now, but it keeps getting bigger. It will exceed 700 pages, and that's only 1949-80.
