Re: What is the deal with 1x1 Blue Plates?

(...) Richard, you can find some of what I've written on the lugnet.general page near the bottom under "Links & Resources" - and click on "Gary Istok's History of LEGO Series". This is a rather unstructured series of articles that I've written. (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

(...) <snip> Tom, that would be like me saying "blue regular slope outside corners aren't that hard to come by, I must have 150." :-) It all depends on what sets you bought in quantity in the past! Gary Istok (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Tough to find pieces

(...) I can't seem to locate eithe rright now, but note that either the box or the instructions for the Emperor's Stronghold (Ninja set) showed a firing cannon, even in the US release. (I think it was the instructions.) The US catalog picture (at (...) (25 years ago, 7-Jan-00, to lugnet.castle)

  Re: Very old Classic Windows.

Manuel, The windows you are talking about came out around 1955 or 1956 (which is the date of the catalog you have described). The catalog probably also probably has the old LEGO Gnome (small man in red overalls and white shirt) shown in it. This (...) (24 years ago, 23-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

Re: What is the deal with 1x1 Blue Plates?

(...) Yes those are hard to come by. And Mike is right, those 1x1 blue tiles are very scarce. I didn't think I had any until I found 12 in an old box. That got me to thinking about what pieces are rare. Yes there are rare slopes and arches such as (...) (24 years ago, 24-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Maiden's cart - Castle set 6023

(...) I know the feeling..... when I got those 35 London Bus sets back in the 1980's, I opened every single set! (Ouch!!!) I ripped off the shrink wrap of every single one of them, and sorted all the pieces (there were 840 classic windows!) In (...) (24 years ago, 25-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

  Re: 8x11 box and plate

Manuel is correct. It is the Architectural Series Parts pack box (#518, 519, 520, 521). Originally, these were made in red/white/blue/black...ray/clear, but NOT yellow (that color was not a part of the Architectural sets). I have about 40 of these (...)   Re: Maiden's cart - Castle set 6023

The ones that I got were the 760 (US version). Even though they were 1975-76 sets, I got them in 1985 at about 6 different toy clearance stores in the metro Detroit area (about 5-7 per store). The reason that I scoured all their stores in the (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade)

Maneul, Please check the Architectural boxes again. You might have 4 varieties, but I could swear that there are only 3. I will go home tonight and check again. After today I won't be able to post again here until Monday. As for your parts pack box. (...) (24 years ago, 26-Oct-00, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)

(...) There is a Town set, a house with a sloping yellow roof (I can't remember the number). This might be a European only set, but I cannot verify that either. No Duq, there are other neurotics out there. My LEGO Cathedral (still unfinished) has thousands of red 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x6 and 1x8 bricks. Most of them were from my old cathedral which I built in 1986, but destroyed in 1996 to build the new one. (...) (24 years ago, 30-Oct-00, to lugnet.general)
