(...) Actually, I always peferred the date format [D]D-MMM-[CC]YY as in 6-NOV-98 or 06-NOV-1998. At work we have to use [CC]YYMMDD so that things sort properly. Gary GaryLouie@EarthLink.Net (27 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.cad)

  Mindstorms fanatics

I heard from someone who heard from someone that there is a group of folks somewhere -- about 100 people -- who are into robotics and who each bought a copy of Mindstorms, and they meet regularly (in person, I presume). That's about all I know, but (...) (27 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

(...) Hmmm.... this reminds me of when I first learned programming in Scheme. The recursive nature of the language really got a hold of me and made me think of solving programming problems in ways I never thought of before. The problems would have (...) (...) This is sort of off topic, because I don't have too much experience in programming, but I've noticed a similar phenomenon with language... I can remember a time when I didn't speak Japanese, for instance, but I *can't* remember what it was (...) (27 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

Hi fellow Lego fans and coders- I joined this list yesterday, apparently at the very tail end of a discussion about the nature/subject of this list vs. the nature/subject of another list.   Re: Non FOTW

(...) Well, all I know is the one I bought does not have a sticker, but it DOES say "Double Bonus! Infomaniac Minifigure Inside, PLUS Join the LEGO club." I'd say that means there was supposed to be a minifig in there, sticker or no sticker. Rob (27 years ago, 30-Oct-98, to lugnet.general)

  Follow-up on DS1233 problem

Hello, all: Just following-up on yesterday's message about the HB resetting during the initial download. Removing the DS1233 and replacing it with a reset switch produces a working configuration.   Re: Mindstorms (more than just robotics?)

To get a really good idea, examine skeletal and muscular structures of animals. All animal limbs use ball & socket joints. This can be reproduced in lego. To simulate muscles, the best way is to use the Flex system. Study the movements of a dog or (...) (27 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.build)
