Oops.. absolutely correct - do I feel like an idiot? :) As Doug says, the brick can only be programmed in a limited sense using VLL. (...) Actually, the Droid Developer Kit and Dark Side Development Kit contain the Micro Scout which is not really programmable. See (URL) details on how to program it with a VLL.
