Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) Huh. I was about to point out that a 48x48 baseplate is 15" per side, but it turns out it's actually just shy of 15-1/8". Conversion gets you 381mm based on a 15" baseplate, and 384mm based on an 8mm 1x brick, and that 3mm difference is just (...) (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) Not for the moment - it was a scratch build yesterday evening, after I saw yours, and it is now on display in the window of my cubicle at work, just next to the display stand with 'real' calipers and micrometers and such. I might take some (...) (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) Nothing wrong (you nicely prove it!). Except that I wanted the probe of the depthmeter to be as thin as possible (thinner than an axle). If you have some constructions details of your calipers, that would be appreciated! Philo (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic, FTX)

Re: New LDraw Tool for Parts author: Rulers and Calipers

(...) That's a nice build! Thanks for the rulers and the idea! But what's wrong with the traditional caliper design? With that you have both the width and depth measuring possibilities in the same tool: (URL) (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.technic)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) YRW :-) In a book of LEGO history I read, it was explicitely stated that the original inch based measures were changed to mm. I don't remember which year, but it was a long time ago. The distance between two studs is 8 mm. (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) When I measured a 32 X 32 baseplate it was 10 inches. From my understanding 1 LDU is about equal to 1/64 inch. The Lego company though would surely be able to give you precise meaurements. (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Brickworld - Build On The Spot Challenge

Register me too. This should be a lot of stressful fun. I will bring my own NXT and parts. Can we make Steve Hassenplug participate with one hand tied behind his back? Or blindfolded? This build might be my last opportunity to use the gyro sensor (a (...) (15 years ago, 26-May-09, to lugnet.events.brickworld)

  MacNQC 4.05b, RCX 1.0 and OS X 10.4.6 can't program the brick

Hello with a query from the past... I used MacNQC for ages on other computers but I find now that I can't write a program out to an RCX 1.0 brick using MacNQC 3.04 or 4.05b. I can send the firmware with no problem but when I try to download a (...) (15 years ago, 22-May-09, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

RCX 1.0, MacNQC 4.05b OSX 10.4 can't program the brick?

Hi, a blast from the past... My iBook running 10.4.6 has no problems downloading the firmware from MacNQC 4.05b but when I try to download a program I always get "communications error" and it fails. I've tried both the USB IR tower and the serial IR (...) (15 years ago, 21-May-09, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: Frustration with NXT-G 1.1

Doug, I share your frustration very much. as a child and a teenager i was a Lego Technic freak.   Oh man.

Hi, everyone. Well, I've been off the radar for a few years, finishing dissertation, teaching, and now I'm moving to Eugene in August so I'll be part of the "Northwest" bunch and not the "Northeast" so much. I guess this means I can go annoy Frank (...) (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.people, lugnet.loc.us.or, lugnet.loc.us.or.eug) !

Re: Looking for dimensions of LEGO bricks.

(...) Given that Denmark went fully metric in 1912 and that a 1x1 brick is 8mm x 8mm x 9.6mm (stud exclusive) it seems unlikely that imperial will work out better for you. Although it does so happen that 8mm is quite close to 5/16inch. Tim (15 years ago, 25-May-09, to lugnet.cad)
