Hi, I have a learning remote, the Sony RM-VL600, that can learn any transmit signal something gives it. I also happen to have a Lego Serial IR transmitter to download the programs on the RCX. OK, I've already found part of the answer (shortly after posting, of course...). It appears that the "nbc" executable is both the NBC and the NXC compiler. I still can't find any documentation for how to use it, but if you invoke it with a "-help" (...) (17 years ago, 29-Aug-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt, FTX)

OK, NXC sounds great, but I can't for the life of me figure out where to obtain it, or how I would use it once I had it.
