  Santa Fe SD45 2B

After building a (URL) BN GP38-2B> a while ago I thought I would build another B unit, this time from the other BNSF constituent. (2 URLs) I'm reasonably pleased with the lettering for a first time attempt but it doesn't look much like the real (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX) !

  Building other people's designs

I've been building other people's designs recently. (URL) Tim Gould's Seaboard Air Lines VO660, modified a bit. (URL) A couple of reefers from Jake McKee's book, again modified. It's nice having the basis done for you while being able to put your (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.announce.moc, FTX)

36 Axel Schnabel Car Take Three

I have just finished my third version of the 36 Axel Schnabel Car. This is more realistic looking than my last one. Real one can be seen here. (URL) Brickshelf folder. (URL) deep Links. (URL) is 192 studs long and can go through points. Let me know (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains)

  Plume flowers

Since it's spring and everyone is about flowers, has anyone thought of mixing dragon plumes (x46, x48) with regular flowers? It seems obvious enough that it must have been done already, but I don't remember seeing it yet: (URL) I just wish I had (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

RE: Using NXT Port 4 EIA-485

I've looked at implementing an interface for RobotC, but I've always struggled with why bother since there are no applications that connect to it. I wish LEGO had implemented an option to provide a logic level "RS-232" UART on port four. Yes, I (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt, lugnet.robotics.nxt.nxthacking)

  Re: A Technic Train

Nifty work there! It definetly looks fun, and makes me want to get some of those wheels. Without a differential, does it suffer on curves(1)? The only work around I can think of would be to only power one side of each axle, or put the gearing the (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: Using NXT Port 4 EIA-485

(...) As far as I know, there isn't any support for this interface in either the standard firmware or any of the other third party firmware implementations. The interface runs at 921,600 bps so it will be fast enough to be really useful. I am hoping (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  A Technic Train

The new Lego remote-controlled (RC) trains use train wheels with Technic axle holes (only in the wheels connected to the motor, unfortunately). This creates an opportunity to power a train using essentially any Technic or Mindstorms motor, not just (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.technic, lugnet.robotics, FTX) !

Re: how does a line ends?

(...) I thought about using a static instead of ungetc() in the first version of readLine() that I posted. This means that you can only read from one open file at a time, but that is usually an OK restriction as long as the programmer is aware of (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Gig

(...) Thank you Jonathan, I will follow your suggestion. However what I would really like to do is this: (URL) Christian (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.town, FTX)

Re: how does a line ends?

(...) As long as you only have one character to 'unget' you could probably speed it up by introducing a static char which holds the 'ungetted' char (or null), instead of going through ungetc() -- fgetc(). OTOH, the if-statement to check if there is (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.cad)

Technic Clock Tower Building with Electric Drive

I built a new version of my clock tower building for a recent train layout with (URL) NELUG>. The clock mechanism is built from 100% genuine LEGO and is driven by a 9V (RIS-style) motor powered from a train transformer at a bare minimum voltage. I (...)   Re: Its starting to happen...

(...) snip The problem will get worst on BrickLink. As people or even new sellers find BrickLink and have 'no clue' about the color change. It make me wonder if BrickLink should add a 'warning' or 'disclaimer' about the color change for newbies. (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.color)

  Re: NXT external storage

(...) It may work, but it will be very slow. The NXT runs the i2c ports at only 9600kb/s, so the data will trickle to the NXT very slowly. (...) I think that the answer is yes. (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.robotics.nxt)

  Re: Its starting to happen...

(...) Hi, Baz. I was pretty upset when they launched the color change. It was the catalyst that pushed me away from the hobby for the last year or two. I still don't like the look of the new colors, and I hate the confusion of trying to keep the new (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.color)

  Re: Its starting to happen...

I will not adopt the new colors. There was no justifiable reason for them to be changed. All the suggestions I've heard as to why just do not make sense to me from a business standpoint. I associate the old brown and gray colors with my childhood. (...) (19 years ago, 8-Apr-07, to lugnet.color)
