Re: Tug of War - R21

(...) I have a working entry. It's simple but it works. Currently it's 1lb 6.6 oz. I think 1lb 8oz is one and half pounds. Anyway I plan to bring parts to balance it out on the official scale. By the way who is bring the scale? I've got a simple (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jul-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: I feel Blue but aesthetics is gray.

(...) I meant that with Technic; there will always be holes and gaps in the bodies of cars or the frames of machinery.   Wardale 5AT

A deviation from my usual Space stuff... the Wardale 5AT.   Re: Almost 300! And another Mindstorms Challenge! And more!

OK. Let's start over again: What I should have said is that I believe that if you have two vehicles each weighing 2 lbs (the maximum allowed by the rules), one rolling, one "walking", the probablity of making a "stronger" forwardly mobile unit is (...)   A vig built on a mosaic--My 50th vignette

I usually don't post vignettes here, but I figured this one was worth presenting even on Lugnet. :-D This is my 50th vignette, and I chose to have it celebrate Pioneer Day, a Utah holiday celebrating the arrival of Mormon settlers in 1847 (even (...)   Re: Almost 300! And another Mindstorms Challenge! And more!

(...) I see a high amount of torque required on the Lego motors also. In general, and if done poorly, all you have is a bot with a stalled motor for one minute running at full power. Clutch gears could help, but it would have to be done in such a (...) (20 years ago, 22-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: parallel RCX outputs

Hi Chris, (...) I think so (warning, this is based only on theoretical knowledge). (...) That should be ok.   Re: Almost 300! And another Mindstorms Challenge! And more!

(...) So you have (in essence) a walking robot - but you wouldn't want to halve your traction by having only half of your feet on the ground at any one time - you'd want to have a robot with LOTS of feet and pick up just some tiny fraction of them (...)   Re: Almost 300! And another Mindstorms Challenge! And more!

I read the entire thread, and the rules and ask the question: Why must it ROLL at all? If friction is the name of the game, and if the wheels (tires) are the parts that have the "stickiest" qualities, then why not maximize the surface area of those. (...)
