Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) Because different people want mutually contradictory things. For my own usage, there are times when I want a very procedural language where I can easily specify the precise sequence that things happen in at incredibly fine level of detail (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: How many transfer Opening - R20

(...) I've got to get back to this. I've been sorting my now dismantled Train6 layout. I did 5 1200 tubs filled to the brim with brick and plate on the weekend. I'm so bug eyed right now. I'm not sure how many opening I want. I'm worried about (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

  Re: Odd brick SNOT

(...) It's free for the taking. I'm trying to post things like that here in the hopes that other people will share their own ideas. If Erik Amzallag hadn't posted his fence-based window technique I could never have come up with the two segment (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

  Re: Odd brick SNOT

(...) Yep, the studs touch but it works just fine. By the way, this is an awesome technique, and I'll be stealing...er, borrowing...it myself, without a doubt. Derek (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.schleim, FTX)

Re: How many transfer Opening - R20

(...) In my mind, I see a block shooter like Dereks, but smaller, set on a turret. then you have up to 7 TO's to shoot out of. Chris (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) What is the output of the NXT graphical programming environment? I mean the NXT could already have a JIT type execution environment already whereby the graphical IDE generates pseudo-code ("bytecode") and the firmware on the NXT does the (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

(...) I agree. I think the barriers are artificial, and really only benefit those who might prefer their alchemy to be abstruse and difficult to master. It allows them to be high priests of the inpenetrable incantation. Mathematics didn't flourish (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: The Bad Kitty

(...) I just can't help but smile :). I love the bit of detail you were able to add on the back with the click hinges laying over the double sided slope. Subtle, but very nice. I also like the creative use of the ogel armour. good deal. Steve Witt (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.space, FTX)

Re: How many transfer Opening - R20

(...) Who says you have to have a EOAT that lives out side 7 TO's??? Why cant you use a EOAT that "shoot" through one of YOUR TO's? now you have all this space INSIDE 6 or 7 TO's? ;) Chris (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: New MOC: L-21 Mobile Multi-Role Platform (MMP)

(...) That is really something. As its' been said, very utilitarian looking. To be honest I didn't like the look of it at first, but the more I looked it over the more it grew on me. I esepecially like the inclusion of the knee-joint armor plates; (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

The Minnesota state FLL tournament is at Benilde St. Margaret (a school in Hopkins) on January 28 from 8 am to 5 pm. For details and directions go to www.hightechkids.org. I'll be a design judge.   Re: Non-purist LEGO Robots: was [The LAST post (hopefully) about Java and the NXT]

I was thinking maybe just a new board that fits in the original brick. Another processor, more memory, a complex connector out the end to connect up non-lego sensors, cameras and other devices needing digital communications interfaces. C. Fred (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Odd brick SNOT

(...) Ok, yea, a bit of bevel would help a lot (even if it technically isn't quite enough, LEGO can give some to absorb minor imperfections). Of course if they had been very, very, very clever, they would have figured out how to have the stud height (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.schleim)

(...) That is very neat. I've used the ends of these brackets before in a similar way to do tight lettering on a Caledonian Railway 4MT (2-6-4 steam engine), but I've never been able to work out what to do with the 1x2 part when using the whole (...)   Re: Why java is (not) bad for Mindstorms

This would bypass the interpreter of the firmware and potentially give you (...) (20 years ago, 23-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  The Bad Kitty

While I was sorting the other day, inspiration struck for a small spaceship that would utilize a cockpit/gun combo that I've had sitting around for a while. The Bad Kitty is cute, but deadly.
