Re: Using the Motor as a Tachometer

(...) No way! Really? Too cool! Does it do this with some kind of switching relay or is it purely electronic? --Todd (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Possible Project here at RIT =)

[mailed @ posted] (...) Howdy Andy (and everyone else), FWIW, I've _just_ completed a project very similar to this. There's all kinds of info on it at: (URL) source and pictures. Feel free to rip (cites would be nice) whatever you want and make it (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: SUPER SALE 4559 (yellow train)

(...) hehe Thomas, I hadn't checked the grammar quite as closely as you did. Maybe it's kind of like a "jambalaya" train set he's starting, one which you don't take or add pieces, in which case it's still off-topic :-) -Tom McD. when replying, don't (...)   Re: Gripper and lift arm with single motor

(...) I have built a one-motor, grasp-then-lift arm as part of my (incomplete) solution to Joel Shafer's soda can challenge. I will try to post some pictures of it soon. The idea is based on the "directional transmission" idea that I first saw at (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: help me spend some money!

Totally agree with Jonathan's recommendation for storage. WorkForce Organizers ($4.33 at Home Depot here in San Diego) have 18 bins (with a good mix of sizes) and are stackable & spillproof. Their one long bin holds an RCX plus long (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Train Club Forming

(...) I like NCLTC in case our friends in Charlotte (or wherever else) decide to join us. But if not, then I vote for RDULTC since that's the name of the airport. We should decide soon so we can put in our application for the train show.   Re: Gripper and lift arm with single motor

(...) Lego has included several such designs in their sets. Unfortunately none of the instruction scans are available on the Internet, mostly because these sets are quite recent. Among these sets, 8250 search sub is now on sale at $25 on Lego S@H. (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Used 8880 ?

(...) In case you hadn't heard of them yet, check out DYA-Shopping: (URL) 8880 is still listed on the page, but you might want to email them to see if they still have some in stock. Total plus shipping comes to about $125 (we got two from them a (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.us.or.por)

Re: Help Me Spend Some Money!

(...) This assumes that all pieces have the same value. As an absurd example, if you just count pieces you are counting the value of an RCX the same as 1x1 plate. In addition to that, you have marginal value to consider -- if I gave you 1000 1x1 (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Walmart sale

(...) I'd suggest avoiding most of them unless it's a pretty deep discount - the only one worth it, IMO, is 5976 River Expidition - it's got the best parts selection, generally, and the construction is not as inherently offensive as 5986 (the big (...)
