  Re: The AucZilla 500 auction

(...) $100 for a 1906 is one heck of an oddity. I paid something like $38 including shipping for a brand new sealed copy about 6 months ago, and I don't recall seeing one go over $50 at any other time. Just goes to show you that auctions sometimes (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.market.theory)

  Re: Power steering for 8448

(...) I think someone posted to the list that the micromotor has an internal shutoff when it stalls, so that it can't burn out the coils. This seems consistent with what I see when playing with the motor. If I turn it on an then stall it with my (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Red Strapless Minifig

Hi, I don't live in California so I don't usually post in the SF local group (although I lived on Treasure Island and went to Berkeley for a summer)... but I noticed your message about trading for these minifigs.   Re: Gripper and lift arm with single motor

Hi David, Are you sure Ben's grabber won't work for you? Using a smaller and lighter grabber based on his original design, I can pick up one of those wheels. What exactly doesn't work? Here's my design (Minerva): (...) -- Did you check the web site (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Bulk Ordering - Secrets Revealed.

Thanks for the info John, very informative. If we got group orders in bulks of 50,000 or 100,000, would that be enough to justify a special run of specialty pieces (such as 1x2x2 windows, 2x2 cylinder bricks, 2x2 tiles)? Gary Istok (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)

RE: Using the Motor as a Tachometer

(...) The brake concept can be easily demonstrated. 1. Hook up two motors to two separate RCX outputs. Put a big motorcycle wheel on each so you can see them spinning easily. 2. Hook up a touch sensor to one of the RCX inputs. 3. Program the RCX so (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Using the Motor as a Tachometer

(...) A motor is just some coils attached to the shaft, which move through the field of a permanent magnet. When current flows through the coils, they become magnets and react with the permanent field. But I'm sure you already knew that. There are (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Gripper and lift arm with single motor

Hello, Ok, I haven't actually done this but I have given it some thought. First, imagine that you just want to lift the arm. A classic way would be to put a gear into the pivot point that was fixed to the arm. Another gear in the platform could turn (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Looking for minifig lady with red strapless top body

Who was looking for the pizza-to-go red strapless female top body for the minifig (sorry no fullsize available).   Get togethers

Hi, I've been talking to a new-to-internet Lego fan, Michael (kwee.1@osu.edu), who is thrilled at the concept of people getting together and playing with and talking about Lego. So he wants to know when the next one is. I am willing to host one, but (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.loc.us.oh.col)

Gripper and lift arm with single motor

I hope someone can help me with this I tried most of the weekend to try and build a mechanism to grab an item (49.6x28 VR wheel) and lift it using one new type motor (the ones in the RIS). All my attempts seem to either self destruct or just didn't (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: TARGET in Boston

We have target here in the Metro DC area and their LEGO isle varies from 1/2 isle most of the year to 1 full isle as Winter Solstice approaches.   Re: Power steering for 8448

I used a crown gear on my steering which tends to skip with some ease protecting the model. It also makes a lot of noise to get your attention. Poor engineering , but it works! Have a look. (URL) Fay Matthew Miller <mattdm@mattdm.org> wrote in (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: help me spend some money!

Accually, if you need 5 RCXs, just get 5 RIS. then get some sensors and kits to expanded your lego supply. I know a teacher in my current high school that did that. KGB AgEnT #4 OUT AKA Clint Rutkas -- Did you check the web site first?: (URL) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  CLSotW for 8/8

I like Bonnie's "Marcello" representation. At first glance at the thumbnail I thought it was Elvis. :-) I wouldn't have thought Lego bricks made for interesting watercolor art, but they do. A finer resolution seems to come through in a way that (...) (25 years ago, 9-Aug-99, to lugnet.general)
