  Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) I tend to design assemblies with long shafts in a method that is analogous to how high power electricity is transmited over long lines. If you think about torque as amps and voltage as speed, it's just like that. Shafts don't (generally) care (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: What set did part 3298p66 appear in?

(...) You're right, it was catually called freestyle at the time. I couldnt remeber the transitiional name between "basic" and "creator." The sets I am thinking of are ones like 3226 ((URL) Unfortunately the pictures for many of these sets are (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Starting a new LUG in PA!

Seeking all AFOL's in the Lancaster/York/Harrisburg and surrounding areas for forming a L.U.G. I know you're out there, I saw your names on the sheet of paper at Zainy Brainy when they were going out of business to get the maxifigs! So let me hear (...)   Re: Spiral Staircase

(...) One can never have enough 1x2 plates :-) The tiles are supported on the outside edge, behind the part that sticks out on the curve. Then they're pushed into the plates on the inside corner so that they stack at one end. They're not actually (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.town, FTX)

  Re: Spiral Staircase

The eventual aim was to incorporate this one and a mirror image one as part of a station entrance, along with a ramp for disabled passengers (At shows I have a minifigure in a wheelchair on the platform, with a helpful porter!)   Steps/Rendering

(...) What is it that Edwin is referring to here? Is there a trick with using steps that I need to know about? I've been somewhat blindly stumbling along but have more or less ignored steps since I've assumed (perhaps erroneously) that they were (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: New point motor with a little SNOT - design submitted for testing

Looks neat -- but can you post a photo or two of the innards, for those of us who don't use LDRAW? Thanks, Joe (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.trains, FTX)

  Re: 32 Long Axles

(...) The longer the axle is... the more likely it would be to twist under torque. I wonder how TLC has approached that issue.. perhaps a new plastic ? Ray (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto)

Re: Is it efficient to replace plates w/bricks in a plates studs up mosaic?

(...) Thanks for this suggestion. that way i wont get colums of bricks all the same size and the layers will be more interlocked. great idea! bob (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

Re: Is it efficient to replace plates w/bricks in a plates studs up mosaic?

(...) hi Maarten, you bring up a good point. it never occurred to me that weight would also be an issue. this now becomes a weight vs. part count efficiency problem. i'm going to have to go find the weight of the parts i'm using and do some (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.build.mosaic)

  Re: Two small stores

(...) Good call on the garbage cans. I'm not sure where else I could put them, though, and having those kinds of details (even misplaced) adds a lot to the store. And the tan thing? When a 7 year old helps decorate the interior, things get a bit (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.town)

Re: Costco and HarryPotter motorized train

  Re: Spiral Staircase

(...) Wow it looks great! The only problem with such extravagant designs is that they're so parts intensive (look at all those 1x2 plates!)... I've always wanted to do a double set of these staircases! Judging from other people's responses, it (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.town, FTX)

  Re:Excavator

The tracks are not lego. It would cost at least 200 U.S. dollars to buy enough track links to change my excavator and bulldozer tracks to lego and I would also need 20 of the 40-toothed gears. The tracks are off a remote control dozer that makes (...) (21 years ago, 10-Feb-05, to lugnet.technic)
