(...) Not to put too fine a point on it, but RUN, PRGM and VIEW are read from an I/O port, while the ON/OFF button is tied to an interrupt line. That's what lets you wake the RCX up from a deep sleep, which you can't do with the other buttons. Ralph (21 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

I have a 'bot! It might even work. I still have to program it, though, but I think the construction end is done. (...) Yep, mine too, maybe. Thanks. Ive been working on this for about 9 months now. Usually I have two ships on the go, a "sacrifical" one for my kids to build using the traditional brown pirate ship hulls, and then my main project. After 3 rebuilds I'm fairly pleased with (...) (21 years ago, 9-Feb-05, to lugnet.pirates)

(...) BrickOS does allow you to configure how the buttons are used. The RUN and Power buttons are read in the BrickOS "firmware", so you'd need to change the kernal, if you want to do other things with them, but it is very possible. So, yes, the run (...) I was just wondering, can the Run button on the RCX be reprogrammed? I was thinking of a theoretical, fail-safe system, where it would be nice to run a clean-up routine after the run button had been pressed to stop the program. I reckon you'd have (...)
