  Re: Magnetic sensor

(...) Not being a purist, I ordered 5 of their magnetic sensor kits together with 20 of the short electric cables a while ago. The package that arrived contained the 5 magnetic sensors but only 6 of the electric cables. So I e-mailed them about the (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.robotics, FTX)

(...) There's always the equally trite barrels! ;) I've used barrels and wheels myself before, but have been trying to move away from that. I've tried some things using large dishes built into stuff, and with central protrubrances, and no trans (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Idea Crunching

(...) Interesting topic. I've always felt the same about wheels as engines. I've only seen them used a few times really well. Chris Giddens seems to be able to weild them (URL) decently> in a PCS manner, mostly because they are often countersunk (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

(...) Chris, This is totally the cat's ass... (can I say that?) I *love* your designs and that cockpit/bridge is my favorite ("Aces High" is one of my favorite Sandlin ships too - I'm totally ripping you guys off at some point). I've been working on (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.space)

4.5 wide cars and a delivery lorry

Can't claim these as original ideas as they are based off others I've seen on BrickShelf. But I liked building them, and the combination of 4 and 5 wide on the same chassis was an interseting challenge (URL) the old fashion light good vehicle / (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.town)

  Re: Light seeker

Ahh- I think he is using two so he can minimise seek time-or run it stationary (which he mentions). What I suspect he is trying to do is get the difference between the two sensors, so he can see which is Brighter, and use (as he says) a single (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.robotics)

  Idea Crunching

Okay, Paul Baulch has a well documented distaste of the use of wheels as engines. And at first I thought he was crazy, but then, the more I hear his words in my head, the more I think he's right. They are somewhat un-LEGO-y, not to mention easy and (...) (21 years ago, 6-Dec-04, to lugnet.space, FTX) !
