Re: Combat strategies and tactics in space. Was: Jormungand Carrier Strike Craft

(...) I didn't say that you didn't account for the physics involved, I said that you didn't consider what impact the sheer scale of space would have on combat strategies and tactics. One can postulate methods around the laws of physics as currently (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Steambots

(...) Sometimes I think you build stuff just so you'll have an excuse to create those crazy captions and commentaries. Well played. Do they ever shoot blasts of steam as an attack? (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) Me?? Did I volunteer for this?? ;) Seriously, I'm just riding on other people's coat tails--"Hey Dave, do this" K, done "Dave, call that person..." K, called... "Dave, stand on your head and do the Macarana..." K, probably not... For the most (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

Entry to the ol' wheels in space contest

Are you tired of putzing around the moon in a (URL) go cart?> Kinda dull going just slightly slower than a fleebnork, don't ya think? Well, my fellow spacefarer, save that 9 volt cart for the weekend and 18 craters of astro golf, 'cause your (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, FTX)

  Re: Steambots

You don't know my mother. Thanks for explaining steam as a power source. My favorite steambot is the short legged one. And I like steamrice. JP. (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)

  Steambots

(URL) Steambots aren't powered with fancy-dancy unobtainium power-fusion or uber-posh magic crystals. No. Steambots are powered by STEAM, yeah, thats right, steam as in evaporated water for all you science geeks out there. And when they run out of (...)   Re: Finalizing Hobby Show Details

(...) All the thanks this year should go to Dave. I posted a couple of messages a few months ago, but Dave has been collecting the names and working with the show to get the booth details finalized. I did not have time this year to handle the (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.org.ca.rtltoronto, lugnet.loc.ca, lugnet.loc.ca.on)

  Re: Scale

(...) Well as the dimensions of a minifig are nowhere near proportional to a human, it's difficult to get an exact scale. I've seen scales ranging from 1:40 to 1:60 look ok with them, I think most people tend to scale in the low 40s if they're (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Scale

(...) Minifigs have an exaggerated scale compared to the avergage human. However, the generally accepted 'standard' for minifig scale is usually stated as 1 stud= 1 foot, or 1:38.1. Personally, I think guaging a scale of the figure is a mistake in (...) (22 years ago, 19-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)

  Re: Postcard from Poland

(...) Thank you, it's so nice to read all these comments :) You know, I was few times in Germany and I think you can find that kind of atmosphere at German train stations too. Am I right? Bye, -- shaggie (22 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Postcard from Poland

(...) I've tried with spotlight, but then the interior of the building get dark. Spotlight creates light like a reflector, not like a bulb. (...) This is much better idea, I have to try it. Thanks!   Re: Scale

(...) For what it's worth, here's how I arrive at a scale for minifig buildings, vehicles etc. To make things simple I assume the average minifig would be 6 feet tall (1) if brought to life. i.e. that the minifig _represents_ a being that is around (...)   Re: Scale

(...) Gaz, this won't be exact, but it might help. The Lego scale used for the classic era (1957-72) had Lego cars and trucks that were 1:87 scale. The classic Lego door was 3 bricks tall, and the modern Lego door is 5 or 6 brick tall. That would (...) (22 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.general)

Re: LEGO Millyard model to cover 2,000 square feet, Sponsored by NELUG

(...) Yep-- and one of the biggest problems was the fact that the paper, although made by Lego, didn't QUITE line up with the studs at the lengths we were dealing with, because supposedly it gets stretched in the printing process.   Re: ToPleSs : the Art of building between the studs

(...) Matt Chiles used this technique heavily in his roller coaster, and referred to it as "pony-eared" (the 2x2 plate is pony-eared into the 2x4 plate). This comes from the old castle sets, before there was a horse element. The ears of the horses (...) (22 years ago, 18-Oct-04, to lugnet.build, lugnet.build.schleim, lugnet.trains, FTX)

  My First MOC
