Re: Thoughts on expansion packs please

(...) I got the sports expansion pack for xmas. It was alright, but i think that there are cooler sets to spend your money on. What sorts of parts do you want? If I were spending $50 I'd probably get 8277 (lots of beams, especially for $30) and (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Thoughts on expansion packs please

It really depends on your goals. My wife and kids got me the Mindstorms and BOTH expansion packs for Christmas. The main thing I like about them is the parts. Green and purple bricks and beams are cool. I'm working with my kids with doing the (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Microfig-scale Landing Craft, Orbital  [DAT]

Hey all, Here's just one more microfig-scale model of mine. It's the same scale as the previous ones. Parts of it are directly stolen from the dropship in the movie _Aliens_. It's a military landing craft intended for orbit-to-ground transfer. It (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad.dat)

Re: Thoughts on expansion packs please

(...) I got the #9719. For some reason, Lego isn't marketing it as an expansion set. It has an expansion unit that connects via the IR port. It will drive 3 motors and 3 sensors. The set includes 2 motors, 2 touch sensors, a light sensor and 700 (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Microfig-scale zero-g worksled / small tug

(...) That's not a bad idea...! :-, Seriously, I am using the single 6019 as a worksled model. Its shape is *perfect* for this kind of thing. Cheers, - Sproat (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Speech Synthesis?

Yes, I hooked an SPO256 + CTS244 text to speech chip to a software UART. However, I don't reccomend this solution. If there are a small number of things you need the board to say, buy one of the ISD digital recorder chips (JameCo, JDR sell them as (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Hose spreadsheet ready for testing

I think I've got this thing licked, but I would like some real life examples to test it. If you've been wanting a flexible hose for your model, send me a .dat file with the ends (750.dat) in place, and I'll run it through and send you back a (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad)

  Speech Synthesis?

  Thoughts on expansion packs please

I was thinking about going down and getting at least one of the expansion packs this week. Is one much better than the other? Or is there enough good stuff in each to warrant buying both of them? Thanks in advance for the opinions. -Kerry -- Did you (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
