I got the #9719. For some reason, Lego isn't marketing it as an expansion
set. It has an expansion unit that connects via the IR port. It will
drive 3 motors and 3 sensors. The set includes 2 motors, 2 touch
sensors, a light sensor and 700 other technic parts. I'm quite happy with
it.
I got mine through Tiger Direct.

For the humor impaired. Set # 9719 is the RIS. The expansion unit is the
RCX. The only difference between my first set and my expansion set, is
that the serial number is much higher in the new set.
