(...) Actually, in '96 there was at least the Briefcase set, a Universal fiber optic set, and the Technic Control Center II. There may have been more, but these are the universal sets in the Technic line that I know of. (...) You may be right on (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: New Service Packs for 1999..

(...) Gary is absolutely right! These would be a great addition to the service line-up. The only thing here that I wouldn't buy in multiple quantities & colors is the windows pack, and that's only because I'm not a town guy. Now, if only S&H Canada (...)   Re: New SLIZER advert

I'll keep an eye out. What time of day was it? I received 'Rock/Granite' from Jim Hughes in the US today. It is very neat. Can't wait to buy the rest. The only problem I can see is that the the pieces are so specialist they will be good for nothing (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

  New SLIZER advert

I just saw the new Slizer advert on Channel 4. It shows about as much as the LEGO Club 1999 Catalogue (I haven't recived mine yet BTW) does - that multi-coloured planet thing. Available from Feb 1999. (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Completely agreed. Absolutely incredible. Next question - any guesses as to *how much* Lego this gentleman has to work with? I'm not a castle- head, so I couldn't begin to guess... -Tim (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  RE: rcxcc error

You must install the spirit.ocx. This is done either by installing the mindstorms software that came with the kit, or by locating the Spirit.ocx on the cd-rom, copy it to your system directory and run regserv32 on it 1. Run program (from the start (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  New Service Packs for 1999..

Dear LEGO, You've gotten some good new 1999 service packs. First of all the black sloped bricks are great (even though 2 important black sloped pieces are missing from this set). The green bricks as a separate pack are great also, as are the black (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: No way for a LEGO newbie to get up to speed? Unfair!

(...) Mindstorms has something like 720 pieces or so. 8485 had over a thousand. At any rate, I don't think any single set, universal or not, is really going to be enough for a die-hard enthusiast. A combination of 3 or 4 different universal sets, (...) (27 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.general)

Re: Speculation: Monorail, Disney, Past Coincidence?

Plenty of valid points here... LEGO AS is market driven. We must assume that we are all a special interest group of adult LEGO train builders.
