  RE: GP2D02?

I own an handy-board now for 2 months and I have now 2 GP2D02 connected to it. (took me 1 hour to hook them up and test) You need a digital output-pin(like one off the spi-pins) or make use of the expansion-board, which has digital outputs. I (...)   Re: 3 sensors = 8 inputs?!

This would be just fine for digital (on/off) inputs. But it would not do at all for getting more analog inputs. (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Parts Storage -- A nice carrying/storage case

(...) Along these lines, I found something the other day that works perfect for me for my MindStorms kit plus Technic parts. It's called a "Lid Access Power Tool Case" by Rubbermaid. It's about 15"x14"x6". The lid has 5 rows of various sized (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.storage)

  Re: 3 sensors = 8 inputs?!

(...) Couldn't you do this by simple wire connections? Let's pretend you had a LOT of the motor/sensor connector wires: Sensor #1 is connected to input port #1 hit = 1 0 0 Sensor #2 is connected to input port #2 hit = 0 1 0 Sensor #3 is connected to (...)   Re: Limitations in RCX language

I recommend "Gordon's Brick Programmer" as a replacement for the Mindstorms Programming Environment. Tree view based instead of blocks: point and click to add commands, drag to move them, allows variables, and nested loops. No C or Visual Basic (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Working around the 3 output limitation

(...) I've got an working design that SEEMS to get around the problem of cumulative error. I use a gear plate that sits atop a regular gear. Since it's held in place by gravity, when it hits the limit of travel it simply slips. This allows me to (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: My "new" rotation sensor

Simen, Great discovery! But like it often happens in Research... you have discovered the discovered. (URL) fact doesn't take away from your independent discovery.   My "new" rotation sensor

I just made a useful discovery. I have been struggling for some hours making a reasonably useful yet compact rotation sensor using only the light sensor and the fiber-optic lights. I was unable to fit this into my construction. Then I just tried to (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: Type conversion IC.

I don't have IC handy, but you should just be able to do a hard cast. float aFloat = 1.3; int anInteger = 0; anInteger = (int) aFloat; /*cast the float to an int */ /*you can also do it in a function call*/ FuntionTakesAnInt( (int) aFloat ); Hope (...)   3 sensors = 8 inputs?!

To further the thread on the limitations of having only 3 input sensors: One of the first things that occurred to me was that three inputs gives you 3 bits of input, which means up to 8 sensors. Depending on which sensors trigger, you convert that (...) (27 years ago, 7-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
