Howdy I've never been into the train sets (sorry!), but a recent bulk purchase of a random box o' parts yielded lots of train parts. I am trying to decide if I should eBay the bunch or keep them just in case they'll come handy in a robot or space (...) (26 years ago, 24-Jul-00, to lugnet.trains)

This probably depends on how you define "set" (what does "is" mean? :-) I have a few sets from 1973-74 that I just picked up second-hand, and these dates match the oldest sets we had in our childhood collection.
