Originally, yes, I believe so (Dixie is a reference to the Dixon part of the
Mason-Dixon Line, IIRC).  However, Maryland does not consider itself "Dixie",
nor does Virginia, AFAIK.  To me, "Dixie" refers to Georgia and Alabama,
mostly.
